I completely understand hesitating when hiring someone to help you decorate. I’ve hired designers myself and I know that adds to the budget bottom line. I’ve appreciated their suggestions and advice and I know without a doubt that I saved money. Yes, sometimes you have to spend money to save money. That said, I will be upfront with you from the beginning about my fees and treat you the way I'd want to be treated. 


Types of Services I currently offer:

This option works best for the local client who already loves decorating but wants an objective point of view. We can tour your home and I'll happily chat away offering you tips and suggestions to help freshen up or polish your home. Chit-chat design is billed at a rate of $125 per hour and does not include any written notes or reports or specific product selections. If you want ideas but are willing to put in the work {including note taking during our visit} then a "chit chat" design visit is perfect for you.

Need to get your house ready to sell? You know I love real estate in Houston! Call me! Let's work together to get your rooms ready so you can get your move on and go-go! 

During a tour of your home I will give honest feedback about what might turn potential buyers off plus make suggestions such as:


  • what to clean and de-clutter
  • what to repair 
  • what to pack up before you move to make your home more spacious and appealing. 


My "Rooms to Go Go" design package are billed $125 per hour. 

Interested but not local?  While this design service is perfect for local Houston clients I've done it long distance as well. Send me a smoke signal and some photos of your home via email and let's chat about getting your move on! 




The "Restyle Refresh" design service is for the local client who wants me to refresh their home by restyling and rearranging decor items they already have. While I won't be able to hang artwork or window coverings I will "mark the spot" for you or your handyman to hang or install items. "Restyle Refresh" services are billed at an hourly rate of $125. 







This option works best for clients outside of Houston or if you simply want a vision for your room...either way you put in the sweat equity to implement the design plan so that as much of your budget goes towards the actual decoration of your space. Pen Pal Designs are billed according to the size of your room and start at a flat rate of:

Entry ways and powder rooms: $400
Bedrooms: $400 to $600
Bathrooms: $300 to $500
Living and Dining Rooms: $600

Pen Pal Design includes:

  • design questionnaire + initial consultation via phone or email
  • Floor plan {if needed}
  • Vision design board {with up to one revision}
  • Shopping source list for all items on design board

"Best Friend Design" {BFD} - A mix of the two services above, the BFD is for the local client who needs a little more guidance or as my client Laura calls it - a little "hand-holding" through the decision making process. 

How it works: Before our initial consultation I'll send you a client questionnaire to complete. This gives me a better idea of what you're looking for and will save you time and money. At our initial consultation we will tour your house, review your project list, preferences, budget, and time lines. 

After our visit, I’ll send you a summary of your project with the additional estimated hours your project will take to design and source. For instance, depending on the size of your project it may take another 3-5 hours of my time to source items for a design board. 

After the main design board is complete I'll help you work with what you already have and love in your home plus the suggested items from the design board to determine what accessories {if any} you might need to complete the look you want. We can come up with a list for you to buy over time or you can order everything at once, whatever works best for your budget. We can also shop together locally. That's what sets the best friend design apart from the chit-chat and pen pal...it's for the person who needs in person help pulling the plan together. 

The "BFD" package is billed at an hourly rate of $150.

For the client who is searching for a specific item to finish their room, whether it's to get the best price available for an item or perhaps a more affordable version of an design item {I call it "the look for less"} I can help find the perfect "pièce de résistance" for you.  Send me an email about the product{s} you're searching for and I can give you a detailed price.


FAQS:

Please know that when I source a product, in most cases, you will pay the merchant directly. This will make any returns easier. I will share with you any discount codes I know of {if available} for online purchases. My goal is to help you find the best price possible...hence my nickname The Decor Detective.  



For local clients I am happy to introduce you to subcontractors I’ve worked with before and trust in my own home. If I refer a contractor to you for service I will not charge a mark-up or fee of any kind. You will enter into a contract directly with the contractor and will pay the contractor directly.
